Anyone who bikes, walks, drives, governs, builds...there is a statewide bicycle study meeting Tuesday, March 13th at the Detroit Lakes Public Library from 4:00 to 6:00pm. MNDOT is gathering input on a number of things:
- What is working to make bicycling a safe and usable transportation option
- What needs to be improved to make bicycling a safe and usable transportation option
- Ideas for future bicycling accomodations on Minnesota roads
- Barriers to making improvements
The feed back will help MnDOT improve and develop consistent policies and practices for including bicycle components, such as wide shoulders or bike lanes, on future highway and bridge construction projects. The coolest thing is that it also will help MnDOT develop a new electronic and printable statewide bicycle map!
If you can't make it on March 13th, you may join a statewide webinar discussion on Wednesday, March 22, from 11:30am to 12:30pm. Webinar details and other meeting locations across the state will be posted at
www.dot.state.mn.us/bike/study.html You can find more information on the project at that same site.
